Work Experience

After holding a senior position at Industrial Market Research Ltd. in London, where he worked on diverse international projects throughout W. Europe and the Middle East, he joined the European HQ of a major US multinational. He worked as part of a European marketing team in the UK, and then moved to its Chicago headquarters to take up a new senior business planning position. He subsequently moved to the Boston area to take a marketing position with a different division, was involved in a MBO, and spent the next ten years as Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning for ECRM Inc., a Massachusetts based company involved in electronic imaging hardware and software.

Amongst other roles he was responsible for international sales which grew during that period to reach approximately 60 percent of the company’s total revenue. He managed a large US and international marketing team, completely revamped the European and Asian distribution structure, opened support offices in the UK and Hong Kong, and developed a sophisticated multi-channel distribution structure world-wide, including Japan. He was also deeply involved in driving a rapid expansion of the product range, and was responsible for world-wide product release, management, and support.

Since 1991 he has provided industrial strategy and b2b consulting services, including detailed market reserach and opportunity assessment, as well as hands-on managment assistance over a broad spectrum of industries, companies and countries - including US, UK,germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, and Denmark. Projects have ranged from materials, food ingredients, wire and cable, and sugar confectionery, to precision injection moldings, cationic starch and fragmented antibodies. He has also worked on a large number of international acquisition projects through from initial opportunity ‘scoping’ through to detailed due diligence. He has also organized and facilitated a wide range of meetings and workshops – mainly specializing in innovation, strategy, and market development

Much of his work has been international, and he has often worked as a Senior Consultant with NBS&D bv, based in the Netherlands, operating as part of a global consulting team for blue-chip European clients such as CSM, Philips, BASF and DSM. He is also a Director of International – with partners in the UK and Hong Kong, as well as close associates throughout the US and W. Europe. His focus has been on marketing strategy and international business development, often trans-Atlantic business growth, and he has worked with clients from almost every European country and Japan.


In addition to more strategic services he has in many cases played a very hands-on role involving, for example, lead generation, distributor/dealer screening and initial contract negotiation. This has included taking on interim senior sales and marketing management roles for a number of clients in the UK, US, and Denmark.

He has published sales and marketing related articles in various industry journals as well as co-authoring “Core Competence and New Business Development” published in Long Range Planning – the journal of the Strategic Planning Society. He is also a member of the Business Futures Network, a global organization focused on longer term social and economic trends, and is an active participant in their International Futures Forum meetings.

He has served on the Board of ION Publishing Systems Inc. (US), and Scanview A/S (Denmark), and is currently a Board member for Videocom Inc. – a New England supplier of satellite transmission services.

He shares his time between Boston, Mass., and Dorset in the UK, is married with two children, and has been writing a novel on the painter Jan van Eyck for over 15 years.

Education

Wyn is a graduate of University College, London, has a Masters Degree from the University of Essex, and pursued an advanced degree at the State University of New York. He was subsequently a Research Fellow in the office of US Senator W.E. Brock in Washington, DC.
