Excalibur Technologies – CFO Europe
Excalibur Technologies NV (ETNV) was the joint venture between
Excalibur Technologies Corp. in the USA and some Belgian capital investors.
Its territory consisted of the Belux, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.
Excaliburs product range was situated in the knowledge retrieval market.

ETNV started its activities in July 1996.
In my position as CFO, reporting to the board of directors, I was responsible for building a well-structured organisation within the territory.
In the first year, offices were opened in Brussels (headquarter), Utrecht, Frankfurt, Milano, Roma, Torino and Stockholm. In Austria and Switzerland I signed exclusive contracts with distributors.
Besides my financial and operational responsibilities I was heavily involved in the financial negotiations of the first sales contracts (e.g. RAI-Italy,
BUZA-the Netherlands), Kreissparkasse Hannover-Germany and Fortis Bank-Belgium).

Sterling Software Benelux – Benelux Fin. & Admin. Manager

Sterling Software Inc., headquartered in Dallas – US, was one of the leading independent software and services suppliers noted on the NYSE.

The Sterling Software Benelux organisation had an establishment in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Being the right and left hand of the managing director, I was responsible for the local statutory accounts (Belgium and the Netherlands) and the consolidated Benelux US gaap books, reporting to the European president of finance and admin.
Financial control, annual accounts, human recourses and payroll, legal, insurance,
Vat and tax matters, develop local company policies, etc. were part of my daily
Occupancies.
Besides my financial duties, I was assisting the sales managers negotiating with the customers to help them close sales contracts.
